We Are All Equal

This can be quite a confronting idea. ‘But surely I am better than that horrible person in the news, or my evil mother-in-law’. Maybe believing you are lesser comes more naturally to you, ‘that family member is far more popular and intelligent’, ‘that celebrity is so beautiful they must be worth more than I am’. We have all created a scale in our head of how people should behave, appear, show up and treat others, and you have likely plonked ourself somewhere on that scale. Subconsciously we have often rated ourselves and those around us. It may seem a simple message, we are all beautiful, we all have our own unique gifts, we can learn to love ourselves when we stop comparing. But what about those we are in judgement of, the ones who trigger us with their behaviour or just the way they show up in the world, does that mean they are equal too? Are we, in fact, no better than them regardless of our judgement? That they make mistakes, as we have, and they are entitled to be on that journey of discovery?

Equality works across multiple spheres, and when we are in judgement we are already reducing someone to less than ourselves.

If we are unable to release judgement and allow all to be equal, we will be unable to recognise that same universal truth for ourselves.
